$10,000 REWARD!

Ted Carlenton

Theodore C. Carleton was murdered in the early hours of March 18, 1996 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Ted worked alone at Cook Children's Hospital as a stationary engineer on the evening shift, and he clocked out of work at 11:34 p.m. on March 17, 1996. He was found slumped over the steering wheel of his 1984 bronze and gold colored Chrysler LeBaron by two motorists who were passing by and noticed that the vehicle had run up onto the curb and hit an embankment. The two women stopped at approximately 12:30 a.m. to 12:45 a.m. thinking it was a car accident. They had just gotten off of work and were on their way home. They both were eliminated as suspects in the case.

The vehicle was found at 2651 N. Freeway, Fort Worth, Texas. Ted was unconscious when the women came onto the scene, and one woman stayed with him while the other called 911. Ted never regained consciousness.

Both a policeman and an ambulance arrived on the scene, and Ted was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he died after several hours in surgery. Ted had been shot at point blank range in the lower left abdominal area with a 410-gauge sawed off shotgun. At the time of his death, Ted Carleton had not been identified because his vehicle had not been thoroughly searched by the policeman who responded to the call, or by the homicide detective who arrived at the scene after Mr. Carleton was transported to the hospital.

The police have stated that Ted could have been standing right beside the open door or he could have been sitting in the car when he was shot. One Detective believes that he was sitting in the car with the door open because the shot was in the lower abdominal area. The car was running, the lights were on, and the air-conditioning was running. The police believe that Ted drove away from where he was shot, and the actual crime scene has never been located.

Nothing was missing, i.e. wallet, credit cards, etc. were all present.

The police department has stated that they have no leads and no suspects. They fully acknowledge that the murder took place in a high crime area that is the stronghold of gang activity. They have said that the murder was everything from a possible car-jacking to a drive-by shooting.
