Tanya Gelzer and her Unborn Son

Murdered July 21, 1999

The Mayor of the City of New York is offering an $11,000.00 REWARD for information leading to the apprehension and arrest of person or persons responsible for the hit and run killing of Tanya Gelzer and her unborn son to be named Alonzo.

On July 21, 1999, one day after her twentieth birthday, Tanya Gelzer was struck and killed by a hit and run driver. On the night of July 21, 1999, between the hours of 8:54 pm and 9:00 pm, Tanya Gelzer was leaving St. John's University Campus in New York City, Queens County. As she was crossing the street with an armful of books, she was struck down by a speeding black or dark colored Nissan Sport Utility Vehicle or pick up truck with a cap. The vehicle had North Carolina or South Carolina license plates. This vehicle has damage to the front left headlight area (broken glass) and the logo from the front of the vehicle is missing. There were 3 witnesses to the incident. Tanya was dragged nearly 30 feet before her body was released by the vehicle. She was also 7 months pregnant.
