Robert Jude Nanni was murdered in Vero Beach, Florida at Leon Avenue and Royal Palm Place at 1:00 in the morning. He was coming home when he stopped at a stop sign on Leon Avenue. Another car was in back on the left side. One occupant of this car got out and spoke to Robert. He got back in his car, put the car in drive, and then a shot went through the back window of Robert's car on the driver's side.

The gun that was used was a 30/30 and Robert was struck in the head. His foot came off the pedal and the car rolled onto Royal Palm Place, resting on a palm tree. Several shots were fired at the car.

Robert had on a Western Shirt and Brown shorts with moccasins.

It is known that there was a car with a family from out of town who, once they heard the shots, pulled into a driveway and hid. It is known that a school superintendent saw the car pull into his driveway, and then leave. It is known there was a party on the street.
